This episode of Five Questions features Elliot B., a Management Analyst at MELE, who also happens to have a side hustle as an entrepreneur. Read on to learn more about Elliot and some of the things that make him tick.
What’s your role at MELE and what’s your favorite thing about working here?
My role with MELE is as a management analyst, in which I support our NNSA contract as a part of the NA-90 office. My favorite thing about working for MELE is the wonderful people that I’ve met along the way who make our team feel like family. It’s been a great experience for me.
You’re a certified PMP professional. What does that mean and how does this certification help you deliver results to your customer and MELE?
As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), it means that I’ve demonstrated the knowledge and experience necessary to effectively lead and manage multiple projects. The skills that I’ve gained allow me to work effectively and efficiently, while also collaborating across various teams. This allows me to deliver successful results to my stakeholders and peers in our ever-changing work environment.
In addition to working at MELE, you’re also an entrepreneur. What’s the name of your company and what is it all about?
Yes, I am! The name of my LLC is Energy and Balance and we have been focused on creating quality, cost-effective athleisure wear that promotes health and wellness. We are currently expanding, as we are in the midst of creating an app that will assist psychologists and therapists in their roles. I majored in psychology for my undergraduate degree, so contributing to people’s health, mentally and physically, brings me a sense of fulfillment.
What’s something about you that might surprise people that you work with every day?
I love spending much of my time outdoors in nature, despite growing up as a city kid for much of my life in Philadelphia (Go Birds!). I also own many indoor plants, and I would certainly consider myself as having a green thumb. In addition, I very recently welcomed a baby girl to my family.
What‘s a “bucket list” trip you’d like to take one day and why?
I would like to spend a few weeks touring the Amazon rainforest! Since I’ve been a child, I’ve always been fascinated with the vast environment and Indigenous cultures that are and have been a part of the Amazon rainforest. I’d love to experience the rainforest in all its glory and see the impressive biodiversity with my own eyes.
