Senior Security Specialist Frances (Fran) M. received a remarkable honor in early June 2025–she was nominated for the 2024 National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Contractor Security Professional of the Year Award. She received notification of her nomination directly from Associate Administrator and Chief of the Defense Nuclear Security (DNS) Lew Monroe III.
Fran works within the NNSA’s Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation. She has been a highly valued MELE team member since joining the company in 2009.
In his nomination letter, Monroe stated, “Your nomination illustrates the breadth and depth of your impact on the NNSA mission. It highlights your unwavering commitment to ensuring the security of our nation’s nuclear enterprise, exceptional leadership, and continuous pursuit of professional excellence.”
He added, “As a Senior Personnel Security Specialist within the Office of Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation, you have demonstrated exceptional performance and leadership…Your commitment to continuous improvement is evident through your academic achievements and pursuit of specialized certifications. You also serve as a mentor and role model…Your extensive experience and community engagement further contribute to NNSA’s success and its connection with the communities it serves.”
Fran’s supervisor, VP Deanna Cammarata, lauded her nomination and her outstanding efforts to advance the mission of the NNSA as part of the MELE team: “Those who have had the privilege of working with Fran over the years know she is one in a million. She has cultivated strong relationships across the enterprise and consistently goes above and beyond to support MELE and the NNSA team. Her recent recognition by Lew Monroe, NNSA’s Associate Administrator and Chief of the Office of Defense Nuclear Security, is a testament to her exceptional performance and leadership.
