Five Questions with Abby H.

Five Questions with Abby H.

Anime? Disco? A beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains?

What do these things have to do with Budget Analyst Abbi H? Read on as Abbi wades into the mysteries of MELE’s Five Questions Series.

Tell us about the Nuclear Office of Incident Response’s (NEST) mission and what your role and responsibilities are as a Budget Analyst within its standards and training program?

My program, NEST Standards and Training Program (NSTP), spearheads the standardization and quality assurance portion of the nation’s specialized NEST training. My role as their Budget Analyst is to ensure money flows quickly and accurately to our people and partners. Tracking, reconciliation, and projections are what I love doing, and it’s something that I do every day with my team.

What’s the culture like among MELE staffers working in the Albuquerque area?

It’s almost too much fun. We have a wide range of backgrounds, but everyone works together towards the mission of keeping the nation safe. Diversity is our strength as a team and as a nation. We are blunt, fun, and sharp.

Last year, MELE threw a Speakeasy-themed party in Albuquerque. What was your favorite part of that event, and do you have a theme to suggest for the next party?

My favorite part of that event was meeting new friends and seeing coworkers outside of an office environment. I am no party planner, but I love a good disco ball party.

What’s the best part about living and working in Albuquerque?

Everything? Albuquerque has its own unique blend of people, food, and cultures. I love it here because people are kind and they don’t care about keeping up with the Joneses. There is no prettier view than the Albuquerque sky against the Sandia mountains.

If you could watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would you choose and why?

Howl’s Moving Castle. It’s a wholesome movie with lots of good character growth. The animation is phenomenal, and it is my go-to when I’m not feeling well or if I want something in the background. It has magic, a good message, and it shows people being human.
