Happy Birthday to the United States Air Force
Today MELE Associates, Inc. wishes the United States Air Force a Happy 74th Birthday! Thank you to all the Airmen who tirelessly serve this country to keep our skies safe.
Originally a function of the Army on land, and the Navy by sea, the military’s flying operations did not receive their own branch of service until the passage of the National Security Act of 1947 – the legislation that would later become known as the United States Department of Defense. Yet today, only 74 years later, the Air Force has over 300,000 active duty troops, with about 20,000 pilots. Including Guard and Reserve troops, the Air Force boasts over half a million people.
