MELE Associates, Inc - NSA - IT/Telecom - Overview

Overview:  IT/Telecom modernization support for Cable Plant, Network and Telephony areas within the National Security Agency (NSA)/Central Security Services (CSS) Groundbreaker project.  Location of the services performed is further defined as the National Security Agency – Washington (NSAW) facilities located within a 50-mile radius of the Fort Meade, Maryland campus.

MELE provides secure infrastructure engineering , design and implementation of campus-wide voice and data communications. The initiative entails all aspects of engineering required for a secure structured wiring enviroment.



IT/Telecom work performed consisted of secure and non-secure fiber optic, and various twisted pair cabling used to transport voice, data and cable TV. Responsible for procurement, design, engineering, operation, maintenance and coordination of the cabling infrastructure engineering and facilities.

Cable Plant services were provided and supported multiple and separate networks/cabling infrastructure, distributed computing equipment associated with separate networks, and components that are contained in the NAS/CSS facilities up to the point of presence. The Cable Plant support function also includes all cabling to the Customer Access Outlet (CAO) supporting voice, data and video communications.

MELE has monitored lines and circuits to determine the cause of network problems, and initiate corrective action in accordance with established procedures.

Due to MELE’s outstanding technical and staff action support to NSA, this contract has been modified and extended several times. All of the modifications to the contract have been additional tasks with funding. In addition to this contract, MELE has provided equipment valued at more than $2 million to NSA.
