Telecommunications Wide and Local Area Networks
MELE Pacific provides technical support and engineering consulting to the University of Hawaii Telecommunications and Information Policy Group to support the statewide tele-health access network (STAN). The network provides voice, data, and compressed video teleconferencing, satellite downlinks, and other capabilities. Sixteen hospitals and five research locations are currently connected with a T-1 or higher connection. MELE Pacific recently completed upgrades on the Veterans Affairs’ (VA) network with interconnectivity to the STAN and the University of Hawaii’s Telemedicine Network. The network uses ATM, Frame Relay, and ISDN telecommunications protocols. The transmission network consists of fractional T-1, T-1, T-1 inverse multiplexing, HSSI, and OC-3 over copper with CSUs/DSUs and HDSL, spread spectrum microwave, DS-3 microwave, and fiber optics.
MELE Pacific also provides network support and maintenance for the VA’s statewide ATM network which interconnects the VA’s Ambulatory Care Center and Spark Matsunaga E-Wing on the Tripler Army Medical Center campus to the neighbor island community based outpatient clinics on Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii.
MELE Pacific’s recent work includes:
Software Development and Distribution
MELE Pacific will license existing digital works of art e.g. telemedicine, training and education, etc. products by way of licensing and private labeling of the products or acting as an exclusive distributor for strategic markets.
MELE Pacific’s initial product offering will be the U.S. Veterans Administration/Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) “Computerized Patient Record System” (CPRS). During the past three decades, the VA has developed a comprehensive clinical information system including a patient record and medical imaging capturing system.
CPRS is installed on a Microsoft NT network with over 250,000 users in over 400 VA health facilities. Developed using government resources, the intellectual property rights of the medical package are in the public domain.
