Vice President, Communications Mr. McConnell brings over twenty years of experience in project management, information technology workflow and design, and communications expertise to MELE. A former Senior Information Technology Analyst for the United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, Mr. McConnell was responsible for authorizing project initiatives and coordinating activities between various Senate departments and offices as well as developing strategic and tactical information technology plans, coordination of hearings and reviews of telecommunications and information technology systems and standards for use of digital legislative information. Mr. McConnell played a key role in the establishment of the Information Technology Strategic Plan for the United States Senate, the Senate Fiber Network and developed the Senate Internet Policy. While working on Capitol hill Mr. McConnell served as a staff member to the Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees of the Senate. As a private consultant Mr. McConnell advised the Transition Team for the newly elected Mayor of the District of Columbia reviewing the state of information technology in the District’s Agencies. Mr. McConnell’s areas of expertise include project management, work flow design, internet policy development, telecommunications infrastructure design. As Vice President of Communications, Mr. McConnell has directed telecommunications projects in seven African countries and managed a team responsible for the design and implementation of a Wide Area Network in Guam as well as Y2K remediation projects. |
