MELE Associates has extensive experience in healthcare informatics dating back to 1999 when MELE developed the feasibility study and began providing technical support and program management to the Pacific Telehealth & Technology Hui for the next nine years. The Hui, a joint venture of the Department of Veterans Affairs Pacific Island Health Care System (VA PIHCS) and the Department of Defense (DoD) Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), serves 800,000 veterans and beneficiaries in the Pacific region.
The Hui instructed MELE Associates to pioneer development of an open source version of VistA, a fully integrated electronic healthcare record system based on the VA’s robust VistA system.
Air Force Surgeon General Modernization Directorate: MELE manages 35 Congressional medical programs for the Air Force Surgeon General valued at $155M; develops and manages Air Force budget and planning for medical research and telemedicine projects; provides support on Theater Medical Information Program software integration; and security management for SGR. Theater Medical Information Program (TMIP): TMIP software is a set of medical information systems used on military bases to support peacetime requirements tailored and integrated to provide automated information management support in a theater environment and deployed on Service-provided computer hardware and communications infrastructure in accordance with individual Service requirements. TMIP supports the Military Health System (MHS) mission and the requirement to provide, and maintain readiness to provide, medical services and support to the armed forces during military operations. TMIP applications are used in 28 locations in Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar. Seven major applications cover Medical Command and Control, Medical Logistics, Blood Management, Outpatient Care, Limited Inpatient Care, Aeronautical Evacuation and Patient Tracking. Additional capabilities are covered within specific modules of the major applications set.
