Defense Department - MEV
Goal: Web-based implementatin of Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board's (FASAB) accounting and reporting standards for Military Equipment Valuation (MEv).
MELE Associates provided:
- Project web presence
- Structures for storing information
- Design options
- Content collection
- Content transformation guidelines
Overview: The Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisitions, Technology and Logistics and the Undersecretary of Defense Comptroller who directed the Property, Plant and Equipment Policy requested help to implement the new Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board’s accounting and reporting standard for military equipment, to ensure that a standard, consistent approach and methodology is employed across the Department. A major aspect of this project is to provide timely information to interested parties on related policies, requirements and project status.
MELE worked with ME project managers to meet information dissemination requirements through development of a web presence for the project. Within a very short timeframe we provided:
- Basic structures for storing and presenting information
- Multiple design options
- Assistance in gathering necessary content and guidelines
- Transformation of content for delivery via the Web
The initial site was up and running within two months from starting the process. A strong focus on this project has been the separation of content from presentation. The site is being implemented in CSS to accomplish this as well as to assure full accessibility compliance under current and upcoming regulations.
